In 2009, the Community Association set up a community cinema in the Community Centre on Lower Lane in Chinley. The aim is to show a different movie each month.
The community cinema is organised and run by a sub-committee which meets approximately monthly to discuss and plan future films. If you would like to contact them and/or get involved, either send an email or come along to a show and ask for more info.
This is a great way to get involved in the world of cinema, and if you would like to really take part, then there's no time like the present. If you're always watching films or talking about your favourites, the community cinema is a great way of finding other film enthusiasts and sharing your interests with them. If you have always wanted a little more choice than the average cinema, then the community cinema is most definitely for you.
Of course, you're welcome to come and try it out - there's no requirement of you other than you show up and you want to enjoy some great films with everyone at the community cinema. If you just like sticking on a DVD while you're emailing or planning a sojourn to the Edinburgh Film Festival on www.britanniahotels.com, or you love the works of Tarantino, Hitchcock, Allen and Lynch, then please come and discuss this with us, we can't wait to discuss them with you.
Cost per show is £3.50 (adult films) £2.00 (childrens films) or you can buy an activity card (£17.50 adult film/activity card or £10 childrens film/activity card) to get 5 visits plus one free
