Chinley and Buxworth Women’s Institute
meet in the WI Hall, Lower Lane, Chinley at 7.30pm
on the 1st Tuesday of each month – except January.
We have a varied and interesting programme of speakers and events and new members are always welcome.
2017 is our 100th anniversary and we will be celebrating this centenary – we are now the oldest WI in Derbyshire and are also unique in that we have our own WI hall. A good time to join !
Meetings marked with an asterisk in the programme are open to all.
We have applied and been successful with their application to Tesco to take part in their ‘counter’ scheme. This means that every time you shop at Tesco, regardless of how much you spend, you should receive a plastic counter. You then take this to the box by the door where you will have the choice of three charities in which to put your counter. From July 1st to August 31st, one of these will say CHINLEY AND BUXWORTH WI. This is our opportunity to raise up to three thousand pounds for our WI and could make a huge difference to us. It’s an equivalent of doing ten Spring Fairs and will help with much needed improvements to the WI hall.
So….. PLEASE support us. Every (little) counter helps !

The WI Hall
The Hall is owned by the WI and we are looking to ensure it is well used as a venue for village events.
It is available for hire (£11 per hour) for children’s parties, functions, concerts, events etc. It has excellent acoustics and can accommodate around 100 people (depending on the type of function). It also has good kitchen and cloakroom facilities with disabled access and toilet. Bookings can be made by ringing 01663 746000.
For initial enquiries please contact Joan on 01663 746000.
